Podcasting Site
Hi,
I have had an enquiry from a potential customer asking for me to create a website for them. She is a horse riding tutor, who would like to record the lessons she has with her students onto a recordable DAT machine (or something similar), transfer this file onto her hard drive, convert it into an MP3, and then upload this onto a website for her students to then download onto their ipods to listen to later, after entering a user name and password accessing their particular "lesson" file.
I am still attempting to get my head around this, but I am presuming that this idea is basic podcasting correct me if I am wrong - the only difference being that access is limited to just the one individual rather than a whole host of people - which can surely be done by either javascripting a password into the HTML code (less secure) on the link to the RSS feed, or (better still) having a small content management system in PHP/MySQL for example; to accept logons for each student to gain access to their "lesson" folder and ultimate ipod download link???
However, having not used an i-pod (sigh - I know, im letting myself slip behind the times!!) I was wondering if there was any expert advice out there that could be passed my way to help me decide if the project is do-able. I have researched using google and found lots of useful information about itunes, ipodder, aggregators, RSS Builder, Audacity, etc... but any feedback that can provide me with a simple solution to this, perhaps listed in in a methodical way, would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise I guess its back to Google and thinking of search terms to get the answers to the many questions I still have!
Many thanks and look forward to hearing any comments on this
